ANJA GERIN
BREAD & CLIMATE
for Goethe Institute in Sarajevo, 2012
The main idea was to show the current issue of climate change and its effects on food. The installation of the tower should draw attention to the importanceof wheat, which is one of the most
important nutriments. All boxes of the tower were filled with bread.
The “Jenga”sculpture should embody our planet
and the game that we are playing
against nature. The tower shows the natural imbalance,
when we take what is irreplaceable, the system collapses.
The "Ear" installation was an informative sculpture that had an integrated speaker inside of it. In order to hear it you had to lean on it with your own ear. The installation informed about current shortages and its effects on us. The idea for this installation was to play with the Bosnian saying "Bali me uho/My ear hurts"
which means "I don't care!".
